Spring in New York City

Spring in New York is full of excitement. When the sun comes out, the flowers start blooming and the weather warms up, New Yorkers can head out and explore new exhibits, flower shows at the botanic gardens and there are always new public art displays outdoors to brighten up a spring day. Check out our curated list below on what’s happening in NYC.

New York Historical
The New York Historical’s Gallery of Tiffany Lamps features 100 illuminated Tiffany lamps, displayed within a dramatically lit jewel-like space. The hidden history behind the lamps offers a fascinating look at the contributions of women in the creation of this art. Interactive elements in the gallery include a hands-on “Design-a-Lamp” experience and a diorama that illustrates the rise of electrification.

Central Park Cherry Blossoms 
In the springtime, the cherry blossom trees in Central Park draw admirers from around the world. Their arrival is nothing short of spectacular – an elegant burst of soft pink and white that transforms the landscape into a living masterpiece. Revered for their symbolism of life’s delicate beauty, the petals linger only briefly before drifting to the ground, creating a romantic tapestry beneath the trees.

Macy’s Flower Show
Celebrate spring with the annual Macy’s Flower Show, with thousands of stunning flowers & lush plants transforming the flagship store into one of the most colorful destinations in NYC. This spring, experience Homegrown celebration of America expressed through flowers, fiber & timeless handicrafts department stores: Macy’s Herald Square (April 23 – May 10, 2026).

NYC Spring Ballet
Spring 2026 showcases a breathtaking swathe of repertory, contrasting classical brilliance with contemporary style. The glittering favorite Divertimento No. 15, one of a select few Mozart-scored George Balanchine works, spotlights his talent for visualizing music, with additional founding choreographer highlights including Balanchine’s refined Concerto Barocco and Jerome Robbins’ contemplative In Memory of…. Edwaard Liang’s undulating Distant Cries returns to the NYCB stage after more than two decades, and new works include the world premiere of Principal Dancer Tiler Peck’s second creation for the company and the NYCB premiere of Christopher Wheeldon’s evocatively sparse Continuum.

The Frick Collection
The Frick Collection on the Upper East Side reopened after a multi-year renovation, featuring restored first-floor galleries and newly introduced second-floor galleries. Visitors can also enjoy state-of-the-art education rooms, a 220-seat auditorium, and upgraded amenities.

Little Island’s Performances
Head over to Little Island at Pier 55 to enjoy its new summer programming. With over 110 performances across music, theater, dance, opera and more, it’s the ultimate outdoor stage for New York’s best artists.

Scandinavia House
Explore one of the city’s top cultural centers, Scandinavia House, for a rich cultural experience featuring diverse exhibitions, film series, concerts, and performances from Nordic countries, including the captivating Fog Swept Island exhibition.

The Met Cloisters
The Cloisters, also known as the Met Cloisters located in Fort Tryon Park, is the perfect day escape this spring. Roam the halls with fascinating exhibits from the European medieval art and architecture period, with a focus on the Romanesque and Gothic periods.

The High Line
Stop and smell the flowers on The High Line, the west side’s most famous walkway, especially when the weather gets nice. Make sure to check out the new art installations along the way designed by national and international artists. While you are there be sure to stop by Little Island and Chelsea Market.

Chelsea Market
Spend the day exploring Chelsea Market, which is a cool indoor open space market located in the heart of the Meatpacking District of Manhattan. There are tons of cool restaurants, shops, as well as exciting pop-up events happening throughout.

Night on Broadway
From classic musicals to cutting-edge productions, New York City has something for everyone. Plan a night to remember on Broadway with dinner in the theater district followed by some of the world’s most talented performers live.

Rock Pass
Take the Rockefeller Center Tour, and learn about its incredible art and history, with a visit to all its major landmarks and artworks. Then visit Top of the Rock for the incredible 360-degree views of the NYC skyline. It’s two one-of-a-kind Rockefeller Center experiences in one.

Central Park Zoo
Another great zoo to explore in the city. A little bit smaller than the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo is located right in the park with exciting animal exhibitions and a playground for the little ones.

Museum of the City of New York
The place to explore NYC’s past, present and future. The Museum of the City of New York takes visitors on a tour of the city’s 400-year history, through rotating exhibitions and its extensive collection of vintage photographs, costumes, theater memorabilia and more.

One World Observatory
Experience the United States tallest building, One World Trade Center also known as the Freedom Tower and climb all the way to the top of the Observatory Deck to take in draw dropping views of lower Manhattan’s skyline.
